HISTORY

Baby Plant S.L. was established in 1984 by Juan Antón, being one of the first companies in Spain dedicated to the production of seedling vegetable plants.

TIMELINE

1984 - Baby Plant S.L. is founded in Santomera (Murcia), with 4,000 m2 of production space and basic cultivation facilities.

1987 - The company expands its nursery with an additional 2,000 m2 of modern facilities located in the town of Fortuna (Murcia).

1995 - Both nurseries become one as the company acquires new land in Santomera (Murcia). The area set aside for cultivation on this newly acquired land covers 25,000 m2.

2001 - The nursery is extended thanks to the acquisition of the adjoining land, where 40,000 m2 of additional greenhouses equipped with the latest agricultural technology are built.

2004 - Baby Plant creates the trademark Southern Vegetable Plants for its international sales.

2005 - The company launches the Horticasa brand for the sale of horticultural products to garden centres.

2006 - The R&D&i department undergoes renovation and modernisation by introducing a test field comprising 5,000 m2 of greenhouses equipped with the latest agricultural technology on the market.

2008 - The company is awarded the GLOBALG.A.P. Plant Propagation Material quality certificate.

2009 - The nursery is expanded thanks to an additional 10,000 m2 of greenhouses equipped with the latest agricultural technology.

2012 - Baby Plant celebrates 25 years producing seedling vegetable plants with a presence in eight European countries, turning over 240 million plants annually.

2014 – The nursery is expanded thank to an additional 100,000 m2 of greenhouses equipped with the lastest agricultural technology for producing organic seedlings plants.
